So I took a look and we have an account using your email address that, at one time, received a free bundle of our software. That account was also set up to receive "Critical and account update" emails. So, that's why you got the email about the Stats release: you did, at one time, have a SmarterStats license, and considering the importance of the Stats fixes, that release email was sent as a critical one. 

As an aside, we're modifying some of our mailing lists to exclude customers who received bundles but never activated any of the licenses. So, while you did get that email, you won't get one in the future.
